If I had to pick a single word to describe Return of the Ancients, I think I would just say 'big'. The opening track sets the tone in a grand, sweeping style. This drama is reinforced through the tracklist with the use of bombastic drums and brassy horns. The journey sees some sort of resolution in the penultimate track, and the listener is gently released from the action in the final track which feels distinctly different from the rest of the album. a wizard's familiar
